Assam Convention Vancouver.
In the summer of 2019 the Assamese diaspora of North America and many parts of the world will gather together in Vancouver for the 40th Assam Convention. The city of emerald forests and sapphires oceans, will be the host to three long summer days filled with music, dance and celebration of the colors and beauty of Assam.
Woven together under the aegis of ‘Enazori’, the Assamese community of Vancouver is a vibrant group of enthusiasts knitted together in collective celebration of everything that is magnificent and fantastic about Assam.
From Magh bihu with its pitha ponas and traditional Assamese bhoj cuisine, to Rongali Bihu and its flurry of dance and music, ‘Enazori’ has always strived and excelled in keeping the spirit of Assam alive in the Pacific Northwest. It is with this enthusiasm and boundless energy that our community is gearing itself to welcome the world to Vancouver’s Assam convention 2019.
To kick start the preparations of the Assam Convention 2019, two of the active members of the ‘Enazori’, Amlan Das and Abyartha Sharma, flew down to Washington DC, this summer to the Assam Convention 2018, to present a wonderful video highlighting the glorious city of Vancouver and the fantastic hotel that will host the upcoming Assam Convention 2019.
This video showcased the magnificence of Vancouver in its summer glory. A city that runs from the sea to the snowcapped mountains of the ski resorts, Vancouver can be seen in the video for the paradise it is in the summer months during which the Convention will be held.
A modern travel friendly city, Vancouver has been aptly described as Manhattan with mountains. A melting pot of world cultures and cuisines, with a throbbing bustling Downtown, fancy seaside promenades and fabulous urban centers with scintillating entertainment, just minutes away from sparkling oceans, lush rainforest and spectacular mountain resorts, this is a city waiting to receive you with open arms.
Like the city with its large open heart, the family at ‘Enazori’ prepares expectantly to receive their much awaited guests for the Assam Convention 2019. We at ‘Enazori’ have begun our meetings and community gatherings to plan and chart our upcoming Convention.
At every community gathering the spirit of the upcoming Assam Convention runs high. As we gather together to launch our annual Picnic in August this year and our annual fund raising winter dinner to help the homeless, we count the times we will meet and gather together our resources and our skills to prepare for the great event that will host the world in our palms.
